Scope Of Work
in Queens, New York, Citi Field was built as a replacement for Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets. AECOM Hunt, in a joint venture, provided both pre-construction and construction services, employing a combination of fast-track and conventional procurement methods.
This $600-million, 1.2-million-square-foot, open-air baseball stadium features five floors, 54 luxury suites, four restaurants and a total capacity of 41,800. Other features include: contoured seating configuration, which brings fans closer to the field on all levels; structural steel frame with cast-in-place concrete shear walls and slab on deck; and wider concourses designed for easier access, while providing a 360-degree view of the field.
Several key trades were identified early in the procurement process, and were bid utilizing a design-assist approach.
